NEXUS: THE EXODUS

Gardain Glimmerstone is a a cleric of Dumathoin, Dwarf god of mining, underground exploration, and caretaker of the dead. Gardain began his priestly duties by working in the mines, and worked his way up to being a supervisor of mine safety. During this time, he served the dual purpose of tending to the dead who often result in mining expeditions. Gardain volunteered for the trip to Nexus because he wished to accompany the Dwarves who were assigned to explore and mine rare elements from the Island. He knew that in this strange new environment his services would be needed to help the souls of the dying find peace in the afterlife.

Nexus Expedition, Unknown Date. The Exodus From Highpoint.

Ψ  The expedition has gone horribly wrong. After our unit rode out to the other side of the impossibly large city of Highpoint, we became intensely aware that this was an alien landscape. The sky had no sun or moon but seemed to radiate with an unending light. It is eternally day here, making it difficult to track the time without the damned timers provided by our Quartermaster. We were forced to abandon the city due to some sort of defense that transmutes flesh to crystal. We have taken terrible loses to our force, and the Lord Commander is one of the casualties. The source of this magical defense is beyond my comprehension, although I have assigned our remaining healers, mages, and alchemists to study the afflicted in the hopes that they can be somehow revived and their bodies made flesh again. Interestingly enough, Krell suffered a similar effect at long range while standing outside the city during our Exodus. His flesh was affected but only to a degree that it almost acts as a dermal armor. We have made camp, and are trying to reorganize. I am weary, and must sleep. But before I do I will seek the guidance of the Reaper. I fear that this expedition will be our last. May the Reaper guide us to eternal slumber.
