DRAGONLANCE: OF CABBAGES AND KINGS

“The time has come,” the Walrus said,
“To talk of many things:
Of shoes and ships and sealing-wax
Of cabbages and kings
And why the sea is boiling hot
And whether pigs have wings.”

— Lewis Carroll

Historians tell us that the years from 348 A.C. to 352 A.C. are called “THE WAR OF THE LANCE.”  The naming of these years have become very popular with the people of Krynn. It was a time when the gods walked among man, the forces of Good and Evil striving against each other for dominance. Takhisis brought her dragons, breathing death and fire, along with her dark armies led by the Highlords. Paladine, along with many of the other gods of good, assumed human forms to lend aid to champions like The Heroes of the Lance. And many have told the Tale of the Companions, and honored them even unto death.

However, there are the smaller events of the War where key battles were won and unsung heroes displayed courage in the face of adversity. Few people, if any, sing songs of these forgotten soldiers. None besides Astinus remember their trials against the forces of the Dragonarmies. Yet, it is the actions of these few that helped to restore faith to the people of Krynn. Without them surely the Heroes of the Lance could not have accomplished their mission.
