Dungeons & Dragons (abbreviated as D&D or DnD) is a fantasy, role-playing game (RPG) originally designed by Gary Gygax and Dave Arneson, and first published in 1974 by Tactical Studies Rules, Inc. (TSR). The game has been published by Wizards of the Coast since 1997. It was derived from miniature wargames with a variation of the Chainmail game serving as the initial rule system. D&D‘s publication is widely regarded as the beginning of modern role-playing games and the role-playing game industry.

I’ve been playing Dungeons and Dragons since 1986. I’ve spent most of the time being a Dungeon Master and telling stories to entertain myself and my friends. Although I’ve run several different campaigns throughout the years, my favorites were always Dragonlance and Greyhawk. Since the advent of D&D 5th edition, I have rediscovered my love of the Forgotten Realms setting. Most all of the stories I’ve told at the table have been set within the Forgotten Realms since tat time.
In the employment of Dagult Neverember, the Open Lord of Waterdeep and the Lord Protector of Neverwinter, they travelled to Phandalin by way of the High Road. They were hired to escort a wagon carrying a holy relic. It seemed like an easy job. They are pulled into the conflict arising between the Cult of the Dragon and all of Faerûn. Will our heroes survive the Tyranny of Dragons?

In an audacious bid for power, the Cult of the Dragon, along with its dragon allies and the Red Wizards of Thay, seek to bring Tiamat from her prison in the Nine Hells to Faerûn. To this end, they are sweeping from town to town, laying waste to all those who oppose them and gathering a hoard of riches for their dread queen. The threat of annihilation has become so dire that groups as disparate as the Harpers and Zhentarim are banding together in the fight against the cult. Never before has the need for heroes been so desperate.
