THE NEXUS CAMPAIGN

5/22/2013 SESSION ZERO
We met for Session Zero to create characters for a campaign being told by B.K. using the most recent D&D Next playtest packet. I made a Dwarf Cleric named Gardain Glitterstone, J.G. created a Human Barbarian, and S.B. created a High Elf Wizard.
So far, the background of the campaign is that our characters were sent through a magical gateway to a strange, exotic island. We arrived with a exploration party numbering 4000 people in total. We arrived to discover a strange stone city named Nexus. We colonized the city, planning to explore the island for a year long tour of duty. After a year, the gateway was scheduled to open again to allow us to return home.
5/23/13 DM’s description of the Campaign Background
Characters are members of the City State of Nexus Expeditionary force sent by the Elders to secure a newly discovered land. Characters were either hired for one of their skills or sent by their order or guild to assist or were conscripted because of their violent or unlawful tendencies. All members of the expeditionary force have received one year’s wages in advance and are encouraged to bring along the supplies and trade goods that they may anticipate needing over the course of the planned year stationing in Highmark and Spire. The Characters have been informed that it is not known what if any supplies will be available or if any trade will be possible. Characters where given access to the goods by the Merchants guild at a 25 percent discount. Characters may also contract with various merchant houses to represent that house’s interest in the new land.
